Roman Young Girl - Minatia Polla
Roman Young Girl - Minatia Polla
£500.00
The original Roman marble portrait (c. 40AD), known as Minatia Polla, is in the National Museum (Terme) in Rome. Found in a Tomb of L. Sulpicus Platorinus and Sulpcia Platorina in 1880. Little is known about Minatia Polla, aside from her being a young girl of 16 years of age. The name was inscribed on the pedestal of the tomb where she was found (among many others), so the identification is not certain. This work is derived from a 3D scan of a cast in the Ashmolean Museum but our version has been restored with a repaired nose and curls.
